HALF MARATHON RELAY COURSE

The relay will begin at the same time as the Half Marathon (7:00am at Leadbetter Beach) and will start and follow the 1/2 Marathon course and consist of up to 4 teammates.

The registered teams in the Relay will pass and share one timing anklet that must be passed within the transition zones. The anklet must be worn around the ankle.

Relay teams must run the entire half marathon course. Transitions from one relay team member to another may occur only by passing the timing anklet to the next teammate within the relay transition zones.

The team member running anchor Leg 4 ONLY will be permitted to cross the timing mat at the finish line. The entire team may not cross the finish line together because of recording issues with the timing mats, and also out of consideration to other runners attempting to finish. The Leg 4 runner may collect the finishers medals for the team.

RELAY TRANSITION ZONES

At the relay transition zone, a spotter will be positioned in advance of the transition zone and will look for black relay bibs. Bib numbers of approaching runners will be radioed to a volunteer at the transition zone who will call out the numbers and have an estimate of when to expect the approaching runner for your team. Only runners whose team member has been spotted will be permitted into the relay transition zone — which will be positioned along the side of the course. Handoffs must occur within the relay transition zone. One timing anklet will be provided for each team, which must be handed off within the transition zone to your team member.
